Clarkston High School
Stoney Creek High School
We faced a very tough Stoney Creek team. They had a lot more depth to their lineup this year than last year. When we faced the Cougars last year; we were a very young and inexperienced team. This year we have the depth; unfortunately, we could not break through.
Halligan/Stolzenfeld played a solid match; however, they were frustrated by their opponent’s mercurial play. They fell 4-6, 3-6.
At #2 Doubles, Stottlemyer/Tombrella fought hard in a 2 & 2 lose. They did not lose their match due to their opponents athletic prowess; but rather to unforced errors.
Fisher/Lowell fell in a 3rd set tiebreaker to the Cougars. The Cougars jumped out to an early lead against the Wolves and we able to hold them off down the stretch. The final score was 1-6, 6-2, 5-10.
Veteran player, Alyvia Stoudt, partnered up with freshman, Ella Zielke, at the 4th doubles position; where they fell 3 and 0.
Girschner/Pelton took an early 5-2 lead against Stoney in the first set and saw several set points; however, they were unable to convert. The Wolves lost 5-7, 1-6 at #5 doubles.
6, 7, & 8 doubles showed improvement in the Tennis IQ as well as their technique but were only able win a combined 4 games at those flights.
The Wolves JV Girls Tennis Team has shown notable improvement thought the season; even though the duel match final results do not show it.
